Our Story

Soma International aims to provide people in rural Tanzania with access to higher education through the building and furnishing of economically sustainable rural learning centers. Our goal is to help people in these communities expand their horizons through reading and learning. 

 

Soma International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Blacksburg, VA,  co-founded by Mohamed Mwinyi, Pranay Bhargava, and M. Cecilia Silva Montoya. These three also hold hands-on management roles within the organization, and have assembled a Board of Directors to provide extra support with large decisions and a student organization at Virginia Tech to drive their campus engagement initiative.
